Yordanys Durañona García (born June 16, 1988 in Havana ) is a Dominican triple jumper of Cuban origin.

Athletic career

Yordanys Durañona gained his first international experience at the Central American and Caribbean Championships (CAC) in Havana in 2009 , where he jumped 16.76 m for Cuba, but competed outside the classification. He has represented Dominica since 2013 and won the gold medal at the CAC Championships in Morelia with 16.45 m. In 2014 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and finished eighth there with 15.81 m in the final. He then won the gold medal at the Pan American Sports Festival in Mexico City with 17.20 m and bronze at the CAC games in Xalapa with 16.67 m. In 2015 he finished fourth at the Pan American Games in Toronto with 16.72 m and won the gold medal at the NACAC Championships in San José with 16.98 m. He qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 16.27 m in qualification .

In 2016 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where he finished 16th with 15.27 m. He then took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated without a valid attempt in qualification . In 2017 she took part in the World Championships in London , where she finished eleventh with 16.42 m in the final . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where he won the silver medal behind Troy Doris from Guyana with 16.86 m . At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla , he finished seventh with 16.18 m.

He was the flag bearer for Dominica at the opening event of the 2016 Olympic Games.
