Your Time Is Gonna Come is a song by the British rock band Led Zeppelin . It was released in 1969 on their debut album Led Zeppelin .

Guitarist Jimmy Page played a detuned ten-string Fender guitar and a borrowed Gibson J-200 for this song . In a 1977 interview, Page stated that he had only learned to play steel-string guitar while recording the first album. Bassist John Paul Jones played an organ and used the pedals for the bass .

The text is about an unfaithful girl who has to pay the price for her deceitful behavior. The lines "One of these days and it won't be long / You'll look for me but baby I'll be gone" (German: "One day, it won't be long, you'll look for me, but I'll be gone ") quote the song" I Believe to My Soul "by Ray Charles , which shows Robert Plant's penchant for rhythm and blues .

The only known performance of this song at a Led Zeppelin concert is a small snippet at a concert in Tokyo on September 24, 1971 during a " Whole Lotta Love " medley. There is a bootleg recording of this with the name Light and Shade .

Jimmy Page performed the song on his 1999 tour with The Black Crowes . A version of Page and The Black Crowes can be heard on the album Live at the Greek .

Former Guns n 'Roses lead guitarist Slash said that "Your Time Is Gonna Come" was his favorite Led Zeppelin song. Recording producer Rick Rubin explained about the song:

“It's like the drums are playing a big rock song and the guitars are playing a gentle folk song. And it's got one of the most upbeat choruses of any Zeppelin song, even though the words are so dark. "

“It's like the drums are playing a big rock song and the guitars are a soft folk song. And it became one of the most optimistic choruses of all Led Zeppelin songs, even if the words are so dark. "
