Yūji Ide ( Japanese 井 出 有 治 , Ide Yūji ; born January 21, 1975 in Urawa (today: Urawa-ku , Saitama )) is a Japanese automobile racing driver . In 2006 he took part in the Formula 1 World Championship as a driver for the Super Aguri F1 team .
Career
Yūji Ide drove in Japanese Formula 3 from 1994 to 1998 . From 1999 to 2005 he drove in the Japanese Super GT series, but also in Japanese and French Formula 3 (2001 and 2002) and Formula Nippon (2003-2005), in which he was runner-up in 2005.
In 2006 he drove as the second driver in the new Super Aguri F1 team, where he was given starting number 23. The first driver in this team was his compatriot Takuma Satō .
However, he showed only very poor performance in the first races of the season and was regularly overtaken by his own team-mate. After causing a rollover for Midland driver Christijan Albers at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola , the FIA advised the racing team to stop using Ide as a Grand Prix driver. In his place, from the European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, the Frenchman Franck Montagny drove the second Super-Aguri. In the run-up to the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona , Super-Aguri confirmed that the FIA had withdrawn the 31-year-old Japanese's super license for the entire season, which is why Ide was no longer used in 2006.
From 2006 to 2008 he drove back to Formula Nippon and the Super GT Championship. In 2007 and 2008 he competed in both series for the Autobacs Racing Team Aguri of his former Formula 1 team boss Aguri Suzuki .
In 2010 he started in Formula Nippon. At the end of the season he finished 14th.
