Zützen ( Žytceń in Lower Sorbian ) is a district of the town of Golßen belonging to the Unterspreewald office in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . The place was called Zchuczin in the 14th century .

geography

The place is 4 kilometers southeast of Golßen and 17 kilometers west of Lübben (Spreewald) . The neighboring towns are Rietzneuendorf , Waldow / Brand , Forsthaus Schenze and Gersdorf in the northeast, Reichwalde in the east, Wilhelmshof , Kasel-Golzig and Zauche in the southeast, Jetsch in the south, Sagritz and Falkenhain in the southwest and Landwehr , Fischerhaus , Golßen and Prierow in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the place can be found in 1359. The name is given with zucchini. The Zützen and Wendisch-Gersdorff estates belonged to the von Klitzing family in the 17th century . In 1651 she married the royal Swedish colonel Herbert von Droste zu Möllenbeck, a brother of Everwin von Droste zu Möllenbeck (from a branch of the Westphalian noble family Droste zu Hülshoff ). His older son Albert Leopold was his successor, his youngest son, the Saxon general Johann Eberhard von Droste-Zützen , married the estates of Reddern (where he built the flat church) and Grebendorf. The son and successor of Albert Leopold, Johann Leopold II. Von Droste zu Zützen, who was the daughter of the o. G. Generals married at Gut Reddern in the middle of the 18th century, and Gut Zützen sold it to the von Kleist family , who had Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff build the splendid Baroque castle Zützen, which burned down to the foundations in May 1945 - presumably as a result of arson.

Culture and sights

The village church of Zützen is of late medieval origin. The former manor house Schloss Kleistensitz was completed in 1758 and supposedly designed by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff. After the end of the war in 1945 it burned down to the foundation walls, the walls were torn down in 1946, and in 1970 this also happened with the cellar vaults. The former moat is still there.
