Zachary Ross "Zach" Trotman (* 26. August 1990 in Carmel , Indiana ) is an American ice hockey player , who in July 2017 for Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League on the position of the defense plays. At the same time he works for the Pittsburgh farm team, the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , in the American Hockey League .

Career

Trotman, who grew up in Novi , Michigan , played in the North American Hockey League for the Wichita Falls Wildcats during his junior years between 2008 and 2009 . He then spent three years at Lake Superior State University , for which he played during his studies in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . During this time he was in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in the seventh round in 210th place - as the last player ever - to be selected by the Boston Bruins from the National Hockey League .

In March 2012, the defense attorney finally signed his first professional contract with the Boston Bruins and subsequently gave up his senior year of college. He spent the 2012/13 season completely with the Providence Bruins , the Boston farm team , in the American Hockey League . Likewise the following season, in which he made his NHL debut. After Trotman had spent the 2014/15 season commuting between Boston and Providence, he finally got a permanent place as the seventh defender in the squad of the NHL club for the 2015/16 season . In July 2016, he moved to league competitor Los Angeles Kings as a free agent . In the same way, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins in July 2017 - without having been active for LA in the NHL .
