Zachary Michael "Zac" Anderson (born April 30, 1991 in Ayr ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Anderson from North Queensland has been playing football since he was five, first on the Sunshine Coast in Caloundra and Maroochydore , and later for Brisbane City . In 2008 he received a scholarship to the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS), with which he competed in the Queensland State League in 2008 and 2009 . In August 2009 he was appointed to the Australian U-20 selection , with which he traveled to Vietnam as part of the AFF U-19 championship, but there were no other nominations.

In 2009 he followed the coach of QAS, Mike Mulvey , to the A-League club Gold Coast United and received a place in the youth team that competed in the National Youth League . Mainly Anderson played in the first two years in the youth team, with whom he won the championship of the youth league in 2010 and 2011 as a regular player in central defense. Anderson made his first competitive appearance for the professional team under coach Miron Bleiberg on November 20, 2009, when he was in the starting line-up in the 1-1 draw against Adelaide United and replaced Steve Pantelidis in defensive midfield . Another deployment in the 2009/10 season was followed by two deployments in the 2010/11 season . For the 2011/12 season , Anderson and a number of other young players increased their chances of playing after the idiosyncratic club owner of Gold Coast United, Clive Palmer , significantly reduced his financial support and some well-known players then left the club. Among other things, he was part of the youngest team in league history in February 2012 when they managed to beat the leaders Central Coast Mariners 3: 3 . After Gold Coast United's owners had their license withdrawn during the current season and the season ended under the leadership of the Australian Association, the latter dissolved the team at the end of the season. Anderson was appointed to the Australian U-23 national team for the first time in March 2012 by U-23 selection coach Aurelio Vidmar for the last game as part of the qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games , but Australia already had no chance at that Qualify tournament. He played the entire 90 minutes of the game against Iraq (final score 0-0), the game also served as the first test for Vidmar in view of the newly created U-22 Asian Cup 2014 .

Anderson found a new club within the A-League with the Central Coast Mariners in May 2012 .
