Zbigniew Jan Zieliński (born January 14, 1965 in Danzig , Poland ) is a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Danzig .

Life

Zbigniew Zieliński graduated from the Conradinum Shipbuilding School in Gdańsk, as well as graduating from high school in 1987, and graduated as a mechanic. In the same year he entered the seminary and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Danzig on May 18, 1991 from Archbishop Tadeusz Gocłowski CM .

After years as a chaplain in Gdansk, from 2000 to 2008 he was head of the pastoral office and responsible for the worship of the image of the Merciful Jesus in the Archdiocese of Gdansk. During this time he received his doctorate in pastoral theology in 2004 at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw . From 2004 to 2006 he was a lecturer in the sociology of religion at the University of Gdansk . From 2004 to 2007 he was also pastor in Sopot and then cathedral pastor of the cathedral, the Cathedral of Oliva . In 2007 Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the honorary title of Papal Honorary Chaplain ( Monsignor ).

Before his appointment as auxiliary bishop, he was pastor of the St. Mary's Cathedral , a member of the priestly council and the college of consultors, and lecturer in pastoral theology at the Gdańsk seminary.

On 26 September 2015 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Medeli and auxiliary bishop in Gdansk. The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Sławoj Leszek Głódź on 24 October of that year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore , and the Archbishop of Danzig, Tadeusz Gocłowski CM.
