The Zellerbach is a three kilometer long, all in all about north running brook on the Albtrauf on the boundary of the district Boll von Hechingen in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg , which flows a little north of the village Boll from the left into the Reichenbach .

The Zellerbach break after heavy rainfall on the north slope of Zeller horn ( 912.7 m above sea level. NN ) about 400 meters southeast the Sanctuary Maria cell to about 760 m above sea level. NN from a roar . From there it runs roughly north-northwest and passes the church on its east side; in less rainy times it is closer to the church. Below the church it leaves the forest of the Albtrauf-Oberhang and then after about three quarters of a kilometer, accompanied by a fruit orchard on the right, takes a slightly shorter left upper course from the forest, which arises in the south a little above the church. Immediately afterwards, a steeply torn blade less than 300 meters long flows in from the southwest , which starts under the saddle between the Zeller Horn and the upstream Hohenzollern ( 855 m above sea level ) and sometimes carries water.
There the stream turns permanently to the north-northeast. A few hundred meters further on, he leaves the mountain forest, on the edge of which he last flowed, and walks towards the village of Boll, usually accompanied by a gallery of trees and bushes. He crosses this, initially under the Weidenweg, the Mitteldorf street and the Burkhardstraße. It soon swings north from its axis and, open again, runs through the northern part of the village. After Boll, a gallery again accompanies him between fields and a meadow. There it soon begins to plunge steeply into its meandering small estuary gorge, there is a small forest. Less than 500 meters north-northeast of the outskirts of Boll, it flows from the left at about 520 m above sea level. NN in the area of the flood retention basin Reichenbach in the middle Reichenbach .
The Zellerbach is about 3.3 km long when it arises below its Bröllers, then flows about 205 meters below its origin and has a mean bed gradient of around 61 ‰ on this stretch .
Catchment area
The Zellerbach has a catchment area of 1.9 km² in size, which extends as a crescent curved slightly to the left about 2.9 km from the summit of the Zeller Horn to the mouth of the north-northeast. Across it, it is at its widest point from the summit of the Hohenzollern ( 855 m above sea level ) in the west to just over the access road to the pilgrimage church in the east, about 1.1 km wide. In the upper part, according to natural spatial classification, it mainly belongs to the sub-area Killertal and its Alb foothills , in the lower part to the sub-area Starzel-Alb foreland within the foreland of the western Swabian Alb . As a spur of the Alb plateau, the summit of the Zeller Horn already belongs to the neighboring natural area of the Hohe Schwabenalb . Around half of the catchment area, mainly to the left, but also to the right of the upper reaches on the mountain slopes, is forest, a good sixth of which takes up the softness of the village of Boll, which is remote from the mouth on the central lower slope and mainly within the catchment area limits. In the remaining open corridor there are many orchards above the village . Except for tiny bits of edge on the two mountains on the southern and western tip, the whole area belongs to the Boller suburb of Hechingen. The village of Boll am Mittellauf and its pilgrimage church near the source are the only settlements in the catchment area.
Behind the entire eastern border of the catchment area, other left slope brooks drain to the Reichenbach, on their longest part the next Hüttenwiesengraben takes the runoff from the other side. The southwestern watershed connects the peaks of Zeller Horn and Hohenzollern; this morphologically most striking ridge line is joined by the uppermost catchment area of the Zimmerbach , which flows below the Reichenbach itself into its receiving water, the Starzel . Behind the northwestern watershed from the Hohenzollern back to the mouth, the next Reichenbach tributary, the Köppeleswiesenbach, largely drains. The highest point of the catchment area on the Zeller Horn ( 912.7 m above sea level ) is only about half a kilometer before the European main watershed between the Rhine and the Danube, which it does not directly border on anywhere.

- Other upper reaches, from the left and south to about 610 m above sea level. NN at the edge of the forest to the Hasenbühl below the pilgrimage church, approx. 0.6 km and approx. 0.2 km². Arises at about 700 m above sea level. NN about a hundred meters south of the pilgrimage church in the hillside forest.
- Blade inflow, from the left and southwest to about 600 m above sea level. NN at the bend in the run a little below the previous one, approx. 0.4 km and approx. 0.2 km². Arises at over 660 m above sea level. NN at a water house on Wagrain a little below the Hohenzollern saddle.
geology
Zellerbach occurs approximately at the northeastern edge of the line as a strip on either side of the ridge line of the current Zeller Horn to Hohenzollern northwest Hohenzollern trench . This disturbance obstructs the well-stratified limestone and imprint gel formation of the Weißjura in the inside of the trench against the Braunjura on the outside of the Boller. The tectonically deeper trench rises morphologically above the tectonically higher outer sides as a result of the reversal of relief . The Zeugenberg Hohenzollern also reaches the two lowest layers of the White Jura via its saddle in the Brown Jura, while the layer package on the Zeller Horn continues over the Lacunosamergel to the lower or even upper rock limestone formation of the middle White Jura of the Alb plateau. The Zellerbach flows into the Braunjura, which is an island of Quaternary sliding masses around the village of Boll .
Retention basin
A few 100 meters south of Boll, a 6000 m³ and 580,000 euro retention basin has been protecting the village since 2018. The client is the Starzeltal flood protection association and the operator is the city of Hechingen.
