The Zeus Palace is a ferry of the Italian Grimaldi Lines , which was commissioned in 2001 as Prometheus for the Greek Minoan Lines .

history

The Prometheus was built by Samsung Heavy Industries under construction number 1279 and launched on August 12, 2000. On March 14, 2001 the ship was delivered to Minoan Lines and put into service on June 4, 2001 on the route from Patras via Igoumenitsa to Venice . In October 2001 the port of destination changed from Venice to Ancona . From June 2003 the ship called Corfu and Bari instead of Ancona.

As Eurostar Barcelona in Barcelona, September 2007

In October 2003 the Prometheus was sold to Caronte & Tourist , who had chartered the ship since September. On February 16, 2004, the ship was put into service on the route from Salerno to Catania . In January 2005 it was sold to ACL Ship Owners based in Gothenburg , who chartered it to Grimaldi Lines under the name Eurostar Barcelona after a renovation . The route from Civitavecchia to Barcelona was the new area of operation for Eurostar Barcelona .

After the Eurostar Barcelona was also used for the route from Livorno to Barcelona in March 2008 , Grimaldi Lines bought the ship from ACL. In October 2008, the previous owner Minoan Lines chartered the Eurostar Barcelona to use it on its old route from Patras to Venice and Ancona. In March 2009 it was renamed Zeus Palace .

After the charter for Minoan expired in September 2009, the ship returned to service for Grimaldi on its old route. In February 2010 the Zeus Palace was chartered to Grandi Navi Veloci .

After the ship had an engine failure in Genoa in October 2010, it was towed to Cantieri Palumbo in Naples for repairs. In March, the Zeus Palace returned to service.

The charter contract with Grandi Navi Veloci expired in September 2012. From October to December 2012 the ship was chartered again to Minoan Lines. Grimaldi then used it from Livorno via Barcelona to Tangier . The Zeus Palace has been in service from Civitavecchia via Trapani , Tunis and Palermo to Salerno since January 2013 . In 2016 she alternated with the Ikarus Palace on the route from Livorno to Olbia.
