Zhang Wei ( Chinese  張 偉  /  张 伟 , Pinyin Zhāng Wěi; born March 22, 1994 ) is a Chinese pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Zhang Wei gained his first international experience at the Indoor Asian Championships 2012 in Hangzhou , where he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Yang Yansheng with 5.40 m . Then he won with a new championship record of 5.35 m at the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo and retired from the Junior World Championships in Barcelona ihne a crossed height in the qualification. At the World Championships in Moscow the following year, he also failed to qualify for a valid attempt. In 2015 he won the Asian Championships in Wuhan with a skipped 5.60 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in Beijing with 5.55 m . In 2019 he won the silver medal behind the Philippine Ernest Obiena at the Asian Championships in Doha with a new personal best of 5.66 m .

In 2014, Zhang became the Chinese champion in outdoor pole vault and in 2019 indoor.
