Now he was in the starting line-up more often and was able to score his first goal for the new team on matchday 1 of the 2008/09 season. Eight more goals followed by the end of the season. Because of an ankle injury in the first half of the season, he had to take a break. In 2010 the center forward celebrated his first title with Gent when they won the Beker van België . In the final against Cercle Brugge , the Slovenian had to wait until the 72nd minute before he was substituted on for Yassine el Ghanassy when the score was 1-0. The match was decided 3-0 for Gent.
