history

The place was mentioned in 1350 as "Apecz de Schornow", the name Zschorna goes back to the year 1501, since 1875 the settlement was called "Zschorna bei Radeburg".

Hugolt von Schleinitz acquired the estate in 1488 and built a Vorwerk . In the 17th century Zschorna went to Siegfried von Lüttichau , in 1671 by marriage and succession to the noble family of Beichlingen . Through these the ponds were fortified and the residential complexes expanded.

After further changes of ownership through succession or sale, the castle was acquired by Friedrich August von Boxberg in 1852 .

The Zschorna estate was sold to the Prince of Stolberg-Roßla under duress in 1936 . A barrack camp was built in the forest adjacent to the castle . It was used by the SA as a ban camp and by the Reich Labor Service as a camp for female labor service providers (work maids) and maiden leader school.

A Russian commander established himself in 1945 that Barack village was in a rest home of the 1947/49 FDJ and a pioneer Head School redesigned. Until 1990 it served as a holiday camp for the Riesa steelworks and was used in pre-military training . Since the turn of 1990 the castle has been largely empty.

Zschorna belonged to the municipality of Dobra until 1994 and after its incorporation was assigned to Tauscha, 5 km away, as a district. Tauscha was incorporated into Thiendorf on January 1, 2016 .
