geography

Mörsbach is located in the southwest of the Sickinger Höhe. The Kastenbühl ( 385  m ) is the highest point in the city of Zweibrücken.

history

In 1441 the place was first mentioned as Morspach , but at that time it was still in the valley of the Bundenbach in the Au . When it was deserted after the Thirty Years War and new settlers from the Bernese Oberland were recruited, they rebuilt the place on the heights. Because of the origin of these settlers, who gave great impetus to agricultural development, and probably also because of its altitude, Mörsbach is known in the area as Switzerland .

Mörsbach came to the canton of Homburg in 1798 and in 1818 to the Homburg Land Commissioner . 1920, moved from the district office Homburg for district office two bridges . The previously independent community was incorporated into Zweibrücken on April 22, 1972.

For decades, the drinking water for the three villages of Mörsbach, Großbundenbach and Kleinbundenbach was pumped up from the former Mörsbacher mill on the Bundenbach .

Today all arable land is cultivated by only three farms. In Mörsbach there are two large farms that produce bioenergy , among other things , and a construction company.
