Attractions
In 2011 Großbundenbach won the special class in Rhineland-Palatinate in the competition Our village has a future .
- There are still some remains of the wall from Bundenbach Castle .
- Evangelical Parish Church of St. Martin - a small cathedral: the tower of the originally Romanesque church has been preserved. At the beginning of the 14th century, a Gothic three-aisled hall church was added, the wall paintings of which were discovered in 1908 and partially exposed again. It is the most splendid of the small group of Gothic stepped halls on the Sickinger Höhe . As a former fortified church, St. Martin's Church still has its ring wall, within which the churchyard was until 1853. The deep notches in the wall behind the entrance portal show that the entrance could be barricaded if danger threatened. The Romanesque choir tower from around 1200 and the Gothic nave from around 1320 form a unit thanks to the warm tone of the red and yellow sandstone. Inside, the keystones of the ribbed vault are figurative. The Steinkallenfels and the Cathcart zu Carbiston used the church as a burial place. Magnificent epitaphs decorate the choir room. Under the altar is the crypt with the bones of the noble families.
