The Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land is an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Verbandsgemeinde includes 16 independent local communities and the city of Hornbach . The administrative seat is in the eponymous city of Zweibrücken , which does not belong to the association. The municipality administration is located in the former administration building of the former district office .

history
The Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land came into effect on April 22nd, 1972 as part of the Rhineland-Palatinate functional and territorial reform on the basis of the “Thirteenth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate” of March 1, 1972 1972, newly formed.
Previously, the administrative structures originating from the Palatinate (Bavaria) (1816 to 1946) essentially applied in the then administrative district of Palatinate .

mayor
Björn Bernhard (CDU) became mayor of the Zweibrücken-Land community on June 1, 2020 . In the direct election on October 20, 2019, he prevailed with 56.5% of the votes against the previous incumbent Jürgen Gundacker (SPD), who had carried out the task since 2012. The term of office is eight years.

The blazon of the coat of arms reads: “In a shield border divided sixteen times by gold and red, split by silver and red, on the right Saint Pirmin , growing, in gold-red episcopal regalia with gold-trimmed red miter, gold gospel book and crook, on the left a gold-nimbled silver one turned to the left Lamb with a silver flag with a red cross, raised by a golden rose with red clusters. "
It was approved by the Neustadt district government in 1981 .
traffic
Dellfeld and Contwig each have two stops along the Landau – Rohrbach railway line . From 1913 to 1971 the Hornbachbahn existed , which tied Althornbach and Hornbach to the railway network.
