mayor

  • 1972–1978: Gottfried Dahm, CDU
  • 1979–1999: Dieter Raber, CDU
  • 1999–2007: Adolf Wieser, SPD
  • 2007–2015: Ulrich Lauth, CDU
  • since 2015: Werner Kölsch, non-party

In the runoff election on November 23, 2014, Werner Kölsch was originally elected for eight years with a share of the vote of 62.93 percent. The runoff became necessary because none of the original three applicants, including Kölsch's predecessor Ulrich Lauth, achieved a sufficient majority in the direct election on November 9, 2014. In May 2020, Kölsch announced that he would be resigning from office for health reasons with effect from August 31, 2020, which would necessitate an early election.

coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: “In a shield border divided eightfold by silver and green, at the top right in red a silver eagle, at the top left in silver a floating blue cross, at the bottom right in silver a green juniper branch with blue juniper berries, at the bottom left in blue a silver eagle. "

Neglecting the Palatinate past in the coats of arms of the individual communities of the Verbandsgemeinde, the eagle of the Lords of Dahn , the Leininger eagle , the Speyer cross and the juniper branch from the coat of arms of Spirkelbach were taken into account.

The coat of arms was approved by the Neustadt district government in 1979 and contains figures of the coats of arms of the eight local communities.
