history

The village of Kleinbundenbach belonged to the Zweibrücken Oberamt Homburg until the end of the 18th century .
In 1794 the left bank of the Rhine was occupied in the First Coalition War. From 1978 to 1814 Kleinbundenbach belonged to the canton of Homburg in the Donnersberg department . In 1802, 172 people lived in the village, 153 of them Lutherans and 19 Reformed .
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Kleinbundenbach was incorporated into the canton of Homburg in the Donnersberg department and was subordinate to the Mairie Großbundenbach . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the area first came to Austria in June 1815 and was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of a state treaty . Under the Bavarian administration, Klein-Bundenbach belonged - as it was spelled at the time - from 1817 to the Landkommissariat Homburg in the Rhine district , which was converted into a district office in 1862.
Since part of the district office - including Homburg itself - was added to the newly created Saar area in 1920 , the place moved to the Kaiserslautern district office and was administered by a district office branch located in Landstuhl until 1938 . In 1939 Kleinbundenbach was incorporated into the Zweibrücken district. After the Second World War , the municipality within the French occupation zone became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , she moved to the district of Pirmasens (from 1997 district of Südwestpfalz ) ; in the same year it was assigned to the newly created Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land . Until 1993 the zip code was 6669; since then it has been 66501.
