Schauerberg lies on the Sickinger Höhe . 43.9 percent of the district area is forested, 46.2 percent is used for agriculture (as of 2017). The Forsthaus Schauerberg residential area also belongs to Schauerberg. Neighboring communities are - clockwise - Weselberg , Hermersberg , Höheinöd , Herschberg and Saalstadt . The Schauerbach forms the boundary to Weselberg and Höheinöd in the northeast, east and south, and the Odenbach in the northwest to Herschberg.
history
Schauerberg was first mentioned in a document in 1732, at that time in the spelling "Scheuerberg". However, it can be assumed that Schauerberg emerged from several smaller settlements that were in the valley and that arose much earlier. Until the end of the 18th century, the village of Schauerberg belonged to the so-called small court of the Landstuhl dominion , which was owned by the Sickingen-Sickingen line of the Barons of Sickingen .
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Schauerbergberg was incorporated into the canton of Waldfischbach in the Donnersberg department and was subordinate to the Mairie Herschberg .
Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the area first came to Austria in June 1815 and was ceded to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816 on the basis of a state treaty . Under the Bavarian administration, Schauerberg continued to belong to the canton of Waldfischbach and from 1817 was part of the Pirmasens Land Commissioner within the Rhine district , which became the Pirmasens District Office in 1862 .
Since 1939 the community has belonged to the district of Pirmasens ( renamed in 1997 to the district of Südwestpfalz ). After the Second World War , the Schauerberg became part of the Palatinate administrative district within the French occupation zone in the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the community was assigned to the newly created community of Wallhalben in 1972 . Schauerberg has been part of the Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben community since 2014 .

The floodplains with mill restaurants such as the Weihermühle , the small pavilion or the Kneispermühle , all of which are already beyond the municipal markings, also act as a place to relax in nature.
societies
There are four associations in the village: the fire brigade's support group , the Harsberg-Schauerberg choir community and their gymnastics association, the church building association and the FWG Schauerberg.
