history
The place was under the Hornbach monastery . With the secularization of the monastery, Geiselberg came to the Electorate of Palatinate , whose fate it shared. Near Geiselberg was the village of Tiefenthal, which was subject to interest for the Lords of Flersheim at the nearby Wilenstein Castle and which went under in the 17th century.
From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then part of the Napoleonic Empire , Geiselberg was incorporated into the canton of Waldfischbach in the Donnersberg department and was subordinate to the Mairie Waldfischbach . In 1815 the place was initially added to Austria . A year later the community moved to the Kingdom of Bavaria and was part of the Rhine district there . From 1818 to 1862 the place was part of the Landkommissariat Pirmasens , which was then converted into a district office. In 1828 the village with the Hirschalber Mill had 352 Protestant and 72 Catholic residents. After the Second World War, the place came to the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
In 1939 Geiselberg was incorporated into the district of Pirmasens (from 1997 district of Südwestpfalz ) . After the Second World War , the municipality within the French occupation zone became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the administrative district of Palatinate . In the course of the first administrative reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , the community was assigned to the newly created community of Waldfischbach-Burgalben in 1972 .
