Hettenhausen is a municipality in the Südwestpfalz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben community .
geography
Hettenhausen is on the Sickinger Höhe . In the northeast is Neumühle , which belongs to Obernheim-Kirchenarnbach , to the southwest is Wallhalben . 34.7 percent of the district area is forested, 53.8 percent is used for agriculture (as of 2017).
The Birkenhof residential area also belongs to Hettenhausen .

religion
At the end of 2014, 40.6 percent of the population were Catholic and 47.0 percent were Protestant. The rest belonged to another religion or were non-denominational. The Catholics belong to the Diocese of Speyer , the Evangelicals to the Protestant Church of the Palatinate .

Municipal council
The council in Hettenhausen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Tobias Woll became mayor of Hettenhausen on July 22, 2014. Since there was no candidate for the direct election on May 26, 2019, the municipal council was re-elected on July 4, 2019. Tobias Woll's predecessor was Gerhard Gießen.

Economy and Infrastructure
The K 20 runs through the village . There is a connection to long-distance traffic via the nearby A 62 .
Until 1987 there was a shoe factory in the village, in which, among other things, Adidas shoes were manufactured. Today there is a turning shop in the building. The name of a bus stop still reminds of the former factory.
