Biedershausen is a municipality in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Thaleischweiler-Wallhalben community .
geography
Biedershausen is on the Sickinger Höhe . To the east is Wallhalben , south Winterbach and in the West Krahenberg . 70 percent of the municipal area is used for agriculture, another 22 percent is forest (as of 2011).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1315.
Biedershausen belonged to the Duchy of Pfalz-Zweibrücken until the end of the 18th century and was subordinate to the Oberamt Zweibrücken . After the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794), the place belonged to the canton of Homburg in the Donnersberg department from 1798 to 1814 . In 1802 Biedershausen had 164 inhabitants, including Pletschmühle to the north, 159 were Reformed and 27 Lutherans.
A participant in the Congress of Vienna (1815) and agreements made between a Austria and Bavaria shot treaty came the Palatinate in 1816 for the Kingdom of Bavaria .

At the end of 2014, 39.8 percent of the population were Catholic and 42.2 percent Protestant. The rest belonged to another religion or were non-denominational. The Catholics belong to the Diocese of Speyer , the Evangelicals to the Protestant Church of the Palatinate .

Municipal council
The council in Biedershausen consists of six council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Christian Bühler became mayor of Biedershausen on July 10, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, there was no candidate, the election was made by the municipal council. Bühler's predecessor Thomas Büffel had held the office for ten years.
