Lorenzen currently eats between 18 and 22 Twinkies daily. His motivation to play in the NFL is to one day be able to have enough money to buy the Hostess company. By doing so, he would be able to eat Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, and Hohos whenever he pleases. |

Jared Raymond Lorenzen (born February 14, 1981 in Covington, Kentucky) is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League. He was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He played college football at Kentucky.
Because of his size he has a collection of colorful nicknames, including "Quarter(got)back",[1] "Hefty Lefty",[2] "The Pillsbury Throwboy",[3] "The Abominable Throwman", [4] "J.Load",[5] "Round Mound of Touchdown",[5]"BBQ (Big Beautiful Quarterback)"[6] "Battleship Lorenzen",[7] "Butterball",[8] and "Lord Of The Ring-Dings"[9].
High School
Lorenzen attended Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and was a letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In basketball, he was a three-year letterman and helped lead his team to Kentucky Sweet 16 appearances. He also led his football team to several state titles and was named Mr. Football his senior year.
College
Lorenzen moved on to the University of Kentucky and was the team's starting quarterback beginning with his freshman year (2000), when head coach Hal Mumme named him the starter ahead of returning starter Dusty Bonner. Lorenzen's career at Kentucky was marked by two head coaching changes; Mumme departed as an investigation into NCAA rules violations brought down his staff and resulted in the program being placed on probation with serious scholarship limitations. After Lorenzen helped lead the team to a 7-5 record in 2002, head coach Guy Morriss left to become the head coach at Baylor University and was replaced by Rich Brooks. Despite all the turmoil, Lorenzen set school records in total offense, passing yards, and passing touchdowns, eclipsing many marks set by NFL #1 overall draft pick Tim Couch.
NFL
Lorenzen went undrafted in the 2004 NFL Draft, but was signed by the Giants and ended up making the roster before the 2005 season.
In the 2006 preseason, Lorenzen led his team to victory by engineering a game-winning drive against the Baltimore Ravens. Following that performance and an impressive training camp he was officially named the Giants backup quarterback three weeks later.
Lorenzen made his first appearance on the field in a Giants uniform on December 30, 2006. During this game, he was used for one play, a QB Sneak to make a first down on a 3rd and 1.
Lorenzen made his second appearance on the field in a Giants uniform on Sunday, January 7, 2007, in the Giants' wild card loss against the Eagles. On the Giants' opening drive, he lined up at QB on a key 3rd-and-1 and got the first down, "shifting the pile" in the process, on the way to a Giants touchdown. He also entered the game in the 3rd quarter but the Giants called timeout, and Eli Manning took over at QB.
