Shawn James

Shawn James, born September 10, 1983 in Brooklyn, New York is a professional basketball player who is currently with Bnei Hasharon at the power forward position.[1]

He was considered to be one of the best shot blockers in the NCAA, and recently played for Duquesne University and earlier for Northeastern University for his freshman and sophomore campaign, and his 6.53 blocks per game in 2006 was believed to have set a new record in NCAA history.[2] In 2007-2008, he averaged 12.6 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and 4.0 blocks per game, and was considered to be the 69th best NBA prospect by ESPN.[3]

In 2008, Shawn James declared himself for the 2008 NBA Draft and hired an agent, but later went undrafted.[4] He has recently signed a two-year contract with Bnei Hasharon in the Israeli and European basketball leagues. [5]

However two goals in two minutes from Mexico saw them win 4-3 and take the three points. Japan knew they had to win their next game against Brazil, but the the defending world champions stormed away winning 8-1. In Japan's final game they played Spain. The game refelected Japan's world cup campaign losing 6-1. Officially, Japan finished in 15th place in the world cup.

Throat Lumps

The problem of discoloured lumps towards the rear of ones throat is commonly known as Throat Lumps, or the medical term "swollen asophy"

The most common symptons of the disease are a small black lump inside the mouth towards the throat, with others involving sore muscles, losing the ability to swallow without experencing pain and in severe cases moodswings and abnormal behaviour. The latter symptons are encountered towards the eye (most extreme) stage of the illness, due to the swelling impacting upon a vital nerve that connects directly to the temporal lobe of the left side of the brain.

Once the disease has reached this stage it is impossible to tell it apart from a simple viral infection, the biological blood markers are identical to the common cold, as well as most other minor viral illnesses. From this stage the disease gets progessively worse as it begins to eat away at the bodys respitory system causing coughing and flem build up.

Over the last 200 years there have been hundreds of cases of "swollen asophy" reported with only 15% of cases proving fatal. Treatment includes large amounts of penicillin and supplemented with an anti-oxidant like green tea you would be well on your way to recovery.

The condition is caused by excessive amounts of oral sex and foreign chemicals in the body (i.e drugs, alcohol, semen).

Anybody who contracts this disease should consult a doctor immediately.

Ahli United Bank (AUB)

Ahli United Bank BSC (AUB) is a full fledged commercial and investment banking group providing wealth management, retail, corporate, treasury, offshore and private banking services. The Group's businesses consist of the operations in Bahrain, a wholly owned subsidiary in the UK and associates in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Egypt and Iraq. In Kuwait, AUB has an effective holding of 75% in the Bank of Kuwait and The Middle East while in Qatar, AUB has a 40% stake in Ahli Bank QSC. In Oman, AUB has a 35% stake in Ahli Bank SAOG while in Iraq AUB has a 49% stake in the Commercial Bank of Iraq. In Egypt, AUB, its associate banks and other Gulf financial institutions together hold an 89.3% stake in Ahli United Bank SAE. Apart from these banks, AUB has a nominal stake of 75% in KMEFIC, a brokerage, asset management and corporate finance company based in Kuwait with operations around the Arabian Gulf. Overall, the AUB Group, through its subsidiaries and associates, operates through a network of 93 branch offices and employs over 3,000 people.

AUB’s stated mission is to create an unrivalled ability to meet customer needs, provide fulfillment and development for staff and to deliver outstanding shareholder value. AUB’s strategy is to expand through both organic growth and acquisition in order to act as a ‘multifaceted financial bridge’ between the international financial markets and its Gulf clients. It has sought to establish an operating presence in each of the Pan-GCC countries with a targeted 10% - 20% market share. To this end, AUB continues to develop and invest to increase its ability to acquire new businesses and rapidly integrate them with the bank’s systems. This development has helped accelerate progress in the delivery of financial services and penetration into targeted geographical markets.

The business area strategies are geared to achieve stable and sustainable income growth, operational competitiveness, a higher quality of service, maximum cost efficiencies and greater risk assessment capabilities.

Clearly the bank’s strategic direction has yielded excellent results. AUB has continued, over the past four years, to show a solid increase in revenues and assets together with a substantial reduction in its cost-income ratio over the past four years. Some of the highlights of the bank’s performance have been:

In 2007, AUB registered strong financial progress with net profit growing by 42.8% and total assets growing by 10.6% year on year. This growth was underpinned with very solid capital adequacy and liquidity ratios. Despite the cost inflationary pressures prevailing in the region, the Bank was able to improve the cost to income ratio down to 35.8% (2006: 39.8%) using judicious cost management approach and continuing streamlining in the processes. Solid performance across all the bank’s activities have contributed to this result and reflect the progress made in developing business lines despite the competitive market environment.

2007, was also marked by an increasing external recognition of AUB’s financial performance and risk profile. AUB received a long-term investment grade rating of A - (stable) from Standard & Poor and Fitch and an A (Stable) rating from Capital Intelligence. AUB was selected Best Bank 2007 – Middle East by Global Finance. The Bank was also awarded Best Bank 2007 – Middle East by Global Finance and Euromoney. In 2006, AUB was awarded Best Bank in the Middle East & Africa by Global Finance and Bank of the Year 2006 – Middle East by The Banker. It is also interesting to note that AUB’s shares are currently the most actively traded stock on the Bahrain Stock Exchange and one of the largest in terms of market capitalisation.

Going forward, AUB will continue to pursue new growth opportunities while remaining focused on strict cost and risk management, thereby maximising shareholder value.

Camp Dunnabeck at the Kildonan School

Sources

Nick, Grade 7

216.179.12.186 (talk) 13:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC) Dunnabeck is a summer camp at the Kildonan School in Amenia, New York. Dunnabeck was founded in 1955 by Diana King, the author of many books on the subject of teaching dyslexics. Dyslexic kids go to Dunnabeck to improve their language arts skills. They include reading, writing, and spelling. This six week camp incorporates learning with fun. Kids come from all over the world to Dunnabeck just to improve their language skills. They are not the only ones who come from all over the world. Counselors come here from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Central and South America through a program called Camp America. This is because of Diana King’s desire to attempt to give kids a broader understanding of the cultures of the rest of the world. For tutoring kids are placed in one-on-one classes with a tutor. The tutors are trained in a highly affective teaching method called Orton Gillingham. It uses handwriting, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, and reading to help the kids. Each tutoring sessions last one hour and is followed by a study period to practice what was learned in the tutoring period. Once a week they use their cursive handwriting skills to write a letter home. Kids access to e-mail on McIntosh computers and can write letters and make phone calls home weekly. Dunnabeck is a typical summer camp, so when the kids are not doing their one-on-one tutoring, they do various activities and take trips. At camp, there are activities like; archery, horseback riding, tennis, dance, martial arts, ceramics, photography, slikscreening, multi-media, mountain biking, and woodworking. Trips include; visits to water and theme parks, camping, local attractions, sporting events, concerts, movies, and local fairs. The kids are never bored there. Dunnabeck is a great learning experience for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. Students can choose to board full-time, they can attend part-time. Arrangements for half-day students and full-day students can be made. Scholarships are also available. Every year Dunnabeck helps many dislexic children in need. For information about the Camp Dunnabeck or Kildonan, contact the school at www.kildonan.org or www.dunnabeck.org.[reply]
