(10558) Karlstad is an asteroid of the main inner belt discovered on September 15, 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809). There were unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid on April 3 and 4, 1992 (1992 GH 1 ) at the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional de Llano del Hato in Venezuela .
The mean diameter of the asteroid was calculated to be 3.474 km (± 0.072).
According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (10558) Karlstad assumed a bright surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade an S asteroid .
(10558) Karlstad was named on March 2, 2000 after the Swedish city of Karlstad .
