(35441) Kyoko is an asteroid of the main middle belt discovered on January 31, 1998 by the Japanese astronomer Makio Akiyama at the observatory in Susono near Mishima ( IAU code 886) in the Japanese prefecture of Shizuoka .
The asteroid belongs to the Eunomia family, a group named after (15) Eunomia , to which probably five percent of the asteroids in the main belt belong. According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (35441) Kyoko assumed a bright surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade an S asteroid .
The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (35441) Kyoko are almost identical to those of two smaller asteroids, assuming the absolute magnitude of 14.7 and 15.6 compared to 14.0: (110395) 2001 TO 8 and ( 286836) 2002 NX 38 .
(35441) Kyoko was named on June 14, 2003 after the Japanese swimmer Kyōko Iwasaki , who became Olympic champion in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona at the age of 14 .
