(9567) Surgut is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered by the Ukrainian - Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Shuravlowa on October 22, 1987 at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had already taken place at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj: on September 24, 1976 (1976 SU 5 ) and October 26, 1976 (1976 UK 1 ).
The solar orbit of the asteroid is strongly elliptical with an eccentricity of 0.2106 . Mean distance from the sun ( major semi-axis ), eccentricity and inclination of the orbit plane of the asteroid lie within the respective limit values that are defined for the Nysa group, a group of asteroids named after (44) Nysa (also called Hertha family, according to (135) Hertha ). According to the SMASS classification ( Small Main-Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey ), a spectroscopic study by Gianluca Masi , Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel at (9567) Surgut assumed a dark surface, so it could, roughly speaking, be around trade a C asteroid .
(9567) Surgut was named on July 5, 2001 after the West Siberian city of Surgut .
