(9766) Bradbury is a main inner belt asteroid discovered on February 24, 1992 as part of the University of Arizona Spacewatch project at the Kitt Peak National Observatory ( IAU code 691). Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had already occurred in May 1981 at the Palomar Observatory in California (1981 JX 4 ) and on March 17, 1988 at the Karl Schwarzschild Observatory in the Tautenburger Forest (1988 FK 1 ).

(9766) Bradbury was named on November 11, 2000 after the American writer Ray Bradbury .
