The X552 series includes diesel-hydraulically operated motor tower cars (MTW) ​​of the Austrian Federal Railways . These are used for the construction and maintenance of overhead lines . In the X552 series there are vehicles with different versions of the superstructure with aerial work platform , pushing system and crane.

The structure is a self-supporting welded construction. The cabin of the X552.0 series does not extend over the entire length. There is a small platform at one end. A Palfinger crane is mounted on this . In the cabin, next to the driver's cab, there is a large workshop space and a social room with a second control desk, which is not separated off. On the roof there is a freely pivoting aerial work platform, the pantograph and the support cable and contact wire lifting device.

The X552.1 series has two separate cabins and an aerial work platform in between. On one of the cabins there are pantographs, profile measuring and contact wire lifting devices.

The X552.4 series is based on a Robel track vehicle and has a small cabin with a pantograph at one end and an aerial work platform.
