The ÖBB X629.9 is a railroad maintenance vehicle - number of the Austrian Federal Railways is.

history

Since only the service vehicle X627.951 was available for the maintenance of the narrow-gauge railways of the Austrian Federal Railways and otherwise only small draisines could be used for maintenance work, the ÖBB decided to purchase two new vehicles from Plasser & Theurer . The vehicles should have a maximum axle load of 8.5 t. The first vehicle was delivered in November 1993, as it had an axle load of 10 t and therefore could not be used on the Pinzgau Railway , the ÖBB refused to accept it. The railway service vehicle was handed over to the manufacturer who, with extensive conversion work, managed to ensure that the vehicle met the requirements set by the ÖBB. Then it was delivered - a year later the second vehicle was delivered. The ÖBB put the vehicles, which are narrow-gauge variants of OBW 9, into the inventory as X629.901 and 902.

technical features

The design of the X629.9 series corresponds by and large to that of the OBW 9 family, the vehicles are only made smaller. Both vehicles have a loading crane near which the propulsion system is housed. The drive system corresponds to that of the X629 series , but the engine output has been increased by 47 kW. The two X629.9s have a compressed air brake , a suction air brake and a spring-loaded brake .

commitment

X629.901 is located on the Mariazellerbahn , X629.902 was on the Pinzgau Railway and was taken over by the SLB Pinzgauer Lokalbahn as Xs 91. Both vehicles are used for construction and maintenance work.
