history

In 1985, Plasser & Theurer delivered a service vehicle commissioned by the Austrian Federal Railways, which was derived from the EM-80-E series. The measurement functions of this vehicle could be carried out simultaneously and independently of each other.

construction

Although the X627.8 series does not belong to the OBW10 family, the vehicle frame largely corresponds to this design. The structure consists of a cabin and a long front structure in which the drive units are housed. Three telescopic measuring axes are mounted on the vehicle chassis, which mechanically scan the track geometry at a distance of 2 by 5 meters. The clearance profile can be checked using a laser and two stereo cameras . This unique vehicle is painted blue, red and white instead of the yellow paintwork customary for railway service vehicles.

technical features

Consisting of an air-cooled Deutz - four-stroke engine with load transmission and a Kegelradachs transmission existing propulsion plant acts on both axes. The vehicle has a compressed air brake , but has neither Sifa nor Indusi .

commitment

The X627.801 is stationed in Tulln and is used throughout Austria for measurement drives.
