history
The Austrian Federal Railways ordered six vehicles for electrical operations from Plasser & Theurer . These were delivered in 2000 and 2001.
construction
The mechanical structure and the drive correspond to other railway service vehicles built by Plasser & Theurer - similar to the ÖBB X554.3. The vehicles have a spacious cabin with a driver's cab , on which a pantograph with a special measuring scale and a searchlight that can be controlled from the driver's cab are mounted, and which is attached to a work platform with a three-part work basket. The working platform can be reached by means of ladders, the two smaller ones on the side can be raised up to 3 meters and 2.8 meters above the upper edge of the rail . A maximum height of nine meters can be reached, and a maximum of 4.5 meters on the side. All working platforms are illuminated during work and there are brackets for halogen headlights. The anchoring points and the wheel tensioning systems on the masts can be reached with the railway service vehicles of the X554.3 series. All three work baskets are equipped with connections for electric and pneumatic hand tools.
commitment
The six X554.3s are assigned to the regional lines east (X554.301 - 302), south (X554.303 - 304) and west (X554.305 - 306) and are used in electrical operations.
