The X556.1 series is part of the new catenary renewal train from ÖBB , which enables the catenary systems to be dismantled or rebuilt quickly, inexpensively and with high quality .

development

As early as 1990, Plasser & Theurer supplied catenary conversion trains (FUMA) to the Swedish State Railways and the Swiss Federal Railways , with which both railway administrations had the best experiences. Up to now, the ÖBB have installed their contact line systems in a very time-consuming and costly manner by placing contact line masts for the train transport using various steam and diesel cranes . The contact wire and the support rope were drawn up with the older tower cars ( e.g. ÖBB X534 ), which was a time-consuming process . The new catenary renewal train, which the ÖBB had built at Plasser & Theurer in 1996, should bring a change. The FUMA train consists of several vehicles which, as a train composition , can erect entire overhead contact line sectors with little expenditure of time.

vehicle construction

A six-axle, diesel - hydraulic self-propelled vehicle, the MAGE X556.101 mast positioning device, is used to erect the masts . Telescopic slewing cranes with special clamp grippers for the concrete masts are installed at both ends. The MAGE X556.101 can also be used on its own. The FUMA train directly includes the following vehicles, which are divided into the removal side and the assembly side: On the removal side, an X554.1 catenary scaffolding trolley with a height-adjustable lifting platform begins to dismantle the hangers and Y-ropes. The following is an engine autotowers X552 with the wind car X501.001 which rolls up the old catenary and the support rope on two separate drums. This is followed by the superstructure side with the non-powered FUMA control car that follows in sight , which has a swiveling lifting platform and was created from a Gabs type freight car . The FUMA control car is coupled to the catenary conversion machine X556.001 and a non-powered FUMA trailer X554.201 . With the X556.001, the new contact wire is pulled up by means of two rollers and the contact line or the support cable is adjusted and fastened with the following trailer. The assembly staff can operate the conversion machine from the trailer using remote control. Finally, two X554.1 catenary scaffolding cars follow, which carry out the remaining work such as attaching the Y-ropes etc.

commitment

The FUMA train is mostly used for complete overhead line conversions or new constructions and is used throughout Austria.
