The series X628 provides a railroad maintenance vehicle - number of ÖBB , which fall from machines of OBW-10 family of Plasser & Theurer has been further developed.
history
The ÖBB have tried to standardize their OBW-10 superstructure wagons, because repairs always resulted in expensive spare parts procurement because almost every vehicle consisted of different assemblies. That is why the ÖBB created a specification sheet with the experience gained from the previous series. However, the desired standardization could not be achieved.
construction
The mechanical part largely corresponds to that of the predecessor series ÖBB X627 , but there were minor changes in the arrangement. A hydraulic loading crane is attached to the loading area. The drive system is arranged next to this crane. The box support largely corresponds to the X627 series. The vehicles are painted in a striking yellow, the frame is black.
technical features
The vehicles of the series X628 feature a 12 cylinder - diesel engine with a continuous power of 268 kW. A four-speed powershift transmission is available for driving . A crawler gear is made possible by a hydrostatic drive. Power is transmitted from the engine to the axles via cardan shafts. The vehicles of the X628 series have both a direct and an indirect air brake . From X627.007 the vehicles have an increased continuous output. In 2004 all vehicles were retrofitted with an Indusi .

The ÖBB X628 belong to the track division of ÖBB and are distributed over larger building yards. It is used nationwide.
