The rugby union team of the Solomon represents the in the South Pacific lying island nation of Solomon Islands in the Rugby Union . The team is classified as a third category national team by the International Rugby Board (IRB).

history

The Solomon Islands played their first international match in 1969. The 13-13 defeat against Fiji was also the biggest defeat in the history of the national team. This was followed by further major defeats against Samoa in 1979 and again Fiji in 1983.

To qualify for the Rugby Union World Cup in 2003 , the association provided a national team again after almost 20 years. However, after a loss to Papua New Guinea and a win against Vanuatu , they were eliminated early. The team suffered the same fate in qualifying for the 2007 Rugby Union World Cup .
