The Danish national rugby union team represents Denmark in the sport of rugby union . She plays in Division 2B of the European Nations Cup and has not yet qualified for a World Cup. Denmark is the World Association International Rugby Board in the third strength class ( third tier divided).
Rugby has been played in Denmark since 1931, but it was not until 1949 that the first international match was played. This was lost 6-0 against Sweden . The national association has existed since 1950 and joined FIRA , the European umbrella association, in 1971 . Three years later they co-founded the Nordisk Rugby Union , which takes care of the game operations in Scandinavia. They have been an IRB member since 1988 and have been participating in the World Cup qualifications ever since.
