The Ukrainian national rugby union team represents Ukraine in the sport of rugby union . It belongs to the third class of strength ( third tier ). In 1991, a Ukrainian national rugby team played an international match for the first time. She plays in Division 1B of the European Nations Cup . Previously, the team played as part of the Soviet Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States . So far, the Ukrainians have not yet qualified for a World Cup.

history

In 1936 the Rugby Union Federation of the Soviet Union was founded. The Ukrainian team was part of this association until 1991. On November 21, 1991, the Ukrainian national team played the first official game in its history against Georgia , which was lost at 15:19. Three days later the team lost again to the Georgians 6-0. The first victory came in 1993 against the Hungarians 41: 3. This started a winning streak in which Croatia , Slovenia and Austria were beaten.

The team missed the World Cup in France as they lost all ten games in the fourth qualifying round. In the play-offs, both comparisons against Russia were lost again with 11:25 and 17:37.
