history
The Tahitian national team played their first international match on September 1, 1971 against the selection of Wallis and Futuna . The game ended in a 3-0 defeat. In the second leg two days later, however, they managed to get their revenge with a 14-0 win after they were also defeated by Samoa the day before . After an eight-year hiatus , they only played again in 1979 and were clearly defeated by Tonga with 0:74.
Only to qualify for the Rugby Union World Cup in 1999 was a national team put together again. Likewise for the years 2003 and 2007 . So far, however, there has been no victory in the total of six qualifying games and they were eliminated early.
