The Brazilian national rugby union team represents Brazil on an international level in the sport of rugby union .

history

Rugby union has been played in Brazil since the late 19th century. British immigrants brought the sport to the country.

The Brazilian national team first played an international match on September 9, 1950, against Uruguay . In 1964 and 1973, Brazil hosted a South American tournament that took place annually from 2000 onwards. Since 2018 it has been known as the South American Six Nations, based on the traditional European Six Nations tournament . In that year, Brazil won for the first time, Argentina and Uruguay did not appear with their actual national team. Brazil has also been participating in the Americas Rugby Championship since 2016 . In 2017 they reached fourth place there after victories over Canada and Chile .

Brazil has not yet qualified for a World Cup.
