The Uzbek national rugby union team represents Uzbekistan in the sport of rugby union . It belongs to the third class of strength ( third tier ). In 2008, an Uzbek national rugby team played an international match for the first time. Previously, the team played as part of the Soviet Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States . So far, the Uzbeks have not yet qualified for a world championship.
history
In 1936 the Rugby Union Federation of the Soviet Union was founded. The Uzbek team was part of this association until 1991. On October 8, 2008, the Uzbek national team played the first official game in its history against Iran , which was lost 6-8. Two days later the team drew against Kyrgyzstan at 15:15. In June 2009 the Uzbek selection achieved their first victory in young rugby union history. The opponent was again Kyrgyzstan.
