The Austrian national rugby union team is Austria's representative in rugby union . The selection is assigned to the third tier and has not yet qualified for a Rugby Union World Cup after five attempts . She plays in Division 2C of the European Nations Cup .

Founded in the early 1990s, the first international match in the association's history took place on May 3, 1992 in Budapest against the Hungarian selection , which was lost at 9:23. On November 21, 1992 in Ljubljana against Slovenia, the first victory was achieved 5: 9. The highest victory was celebrated on May 12, 2001 in the World Cup qualification against Luxembourg with 77: 0. The biggest defeat was against Ukraine in 1994 with 72: 0. In 2005 Austria achieved the best placement in the IRB world ranking with 63rd place.
