The national rugby union team of Guam represents the island state of Guam in rugby union . The team is classified as a third category national team by the International Rugby Board (IRB).
history
To qualify for the Rugby Union World Cup in 2007 , Guam set up a national team for the first time. In the first international game against India , an 8-8 draw was a respectable start. In other games against Kazakhstan and Malaysia , however, the team lost and was eliminated early with just one point.
In the following year, the island nation again put together a team for the test matches against the Philippines and Pakistan . In both games Guam was narrowly defeated. In 2008 Guam took part in the Asian Five Nations , the Asian Cup, for the first time. The IRB classified the team in one of the regional divisions that were not allowed to qualify for the 2011 World Cup . In that tournament they managed to celebrate the highest victory in rugby history in Guam against Brunei 74-0.
