The Austrian Women's Football Cup was in the 1978/79 season under the name Women's World Cup , hosted by the Vienna Football Association, played for the seventh time. The cup was won for the first time by the LUV Graz.

The following 7 (!!) teams, which are classified according to the season position of the 1977/78 season, would have qualified for the Austrian women's soccer cup based on the participation of the league in the 1978/79 season . Teams that are marked as crossed out participated in the 1978/79 season, were not eligible to play in the championship that season and therefore did not play for the cup.
