The Austrian Women's Soccer Cup was played for the 24th time in the 1997/98 season. As the ÖFB Women's Cup , it was held for the sixth time by the Austrian Football Association . Union Kleinmünchen won the cup for the fifth time.

For the Austrian Women's Football Cup of the 1997-98 season following 23 teams after the season placement have reference to the participation of the leagues Women's Bundesliga in 1996/97 , the 2nd Division East 1996/97 and the Regional League West 1996/97 listed are qualified. Teams that are marked as crossed out did not take part in the competition for various reasons or are second teams and therefore did not play for the cup. Tournament course

1st cup round

In the first round of the cup, the national league champions or vice-champions and the second division teams met. SV Garsten shone with a 10-0 victory over SV Horn. SV Böheimkirchen and SC Stattersdorf delivered a thrilling local derby. After a 3-3 draw, SC Stattersdorf was finally able to narrowly prevail 5-4 on penalties.

Quarter finals

This meant that only the eight Bundesliga teams faced each other in the quarter-finals. Somewhat surprisingly, SG FFC Tirol / IAC were eliminated from 1. DFC Leoben after a 1-1 draw on penalties with 2: 3 despite their home advantage.
