Ützdorf (Wandlitz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jägerheim , one of the two landmarks of the small Wandlitzer area

Ützdorf is part of the large community of Wandlitz , which is located directly on the Liepnitzsee . The small farming and fishing village, documented as early as 1294, has belonged to the Lanke district of Wandlitz since the municipal reform in 2003 .

Geography, nature and origin of the name

Ützdorf has an area of about 350 by 650 meters, with no clear limit. The place is on the northeastern bank of the Liepnitzsee. From this lake there is a connecting river to the Hellsee , which is colloquially also called Ützdorfflie . The fortress heath borders directly on Ützdorf in the south, the Lanke area in the east, the Biesenthaler Bogenheide and the Wandlitzer forest in the north.

A wet meadow near Ützdorf with wild orchids , several floating leaf and reed areas as well as sedges and bog woods on the banks of the Seechen and Liepnitzsee can be seen as natural features .

In the old Low German usage, Euze, Ütze or Itsche toad means . Ützdorf is the name for a toad village. This is most likely explained by the sandy shallow water areas on the east bank of the Liepnitzsee.

history

Land map from 1774 with Ützdorf on the eastern shore of the lake

The village was first mentioned in 1294 with Ubsdorp , which probably belonged to the possessions of Count Albrecht von Brandenburg . This year the count donated a wispel of grain from the mill in Ubsdorp for a measuring altar in Eberswalde .

The name of the village changed from Ubsdorp to Utzstorff (1375 in the land book of Charles IV. ), Utstorp , Uttstorff to Utzdorp in the 18th century to today's Ützdorf. In 1375, Utzstorff owned four Kossattenstellen , 40 Hufe Land as well as a jug and a water mill . In 1391 a Nikolaus Steinkopf bequeathed "the Georgen Hospital and the church in Bernau the village of Utstorff with all its accessories, such as fields, meadows, pastures, grass, felling, fishing, mills and mill rights, etc." A few decades later (1423) the guild acquired it the tailor and woolen weaver zu Bernau the fishing rights of Ützdorf and the island in the Liepnitzsee for 40 shock (= 96) Bohemian groschen . In 1532 the Hussites invaded the Mark Brandenburg and also devastated the houses of Ützdorf.

After the reconstruction, the village and its surroundings changed hands several times until it was acquired in 1826 by the Count von Redern brothers, including Liepnitzsee and the island.

Residents

At least six families can be deduced from the information “4 kossaten, jug and mill” (around 5… 6 people per family plus maids and day laborers), so there were around 50 inhabitants here in 1375. In the 18th century the map shows around ten cottages in Utzdorff , so around 50 people will have lived here again. In 1941, 63 residents are given in a home register.

Around 100 permanent residents were assumed for 2010, although there are no statistically reliable figures only for Ützdorf.

Historically documented family names of the place are Bartusch, Burgen, Künemund (as the operator of a Buchenhain restaurant at the beginning of the 20th century), Kurow (er), Prall, Siegel, Sparr (e), Wehning and Wilke. At the beginning of the 21st century, apart from Wilke, these are rarely or not at all to be found.

The Catholics in Ützdorf are parish to Biesenthal. The Protestant residents belong to the parish of the village church Lanke (address: Baggerberg 5).

Economy and Transport

In the past centuries fishing and agriculture were the economic mainstays of the few inhabitants. During the GDR era , holiday homes and camps from various companies were added and a bull breeding facility was set up. The holiday homes were largely abandoned after 1990, while private individuals set up holiday rooms or houses. The main income for the people of Ützdorf now comes from tourism.

A youth and forest association is maintained in the village . Ützdorf is crossed by Landesstrasse 29, which connects the district on the one hand with Wandlitz and on the other with Lanke, Prenden , Biesenthal or Bernau. The 903 bus from Barnimer Bus-Verkehrsgesellschaft has been the only public means of transport for residents since 2005. The federal motorway 11 with the Lanke exit is about one kilometer away.

Development, sports and other special features

Youth hostel in Ützdorf

The following attractions are located in Ützdorf:

  • a youth hostel with 39 beds in a historic half-timbered house that is not open all year round. The building belongs to the city of Berlin and is located on an area of around 5000 m².
  • the Siegel Restaurant , built at the end of the 19th century, which became the Gasthaus Jägerheim Ützdorf around 1916 , run by Julius Schmoll;
in the late 1990s it was expanded into a hotel by new owners,
  • a forester's house,
  • the St. Maria Afra monastery hostel of the Catholic community (Wensickendorfer Chaussee).
This accommodation arose from a private residence (Villa Fürstenberg) acquired in 1926 by the St. Afra-Stift in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen (at that time both orphanage and welfare home for young people released from prison). It served as a holiday home for children and young people and was gradually expanded. Two nuns and a few housemaids took care of the physical well-being. Sewing courses were also offered to the inhabitants of the village from 1929 onwards. The children's home and sewing school were closed during the National Socialist era . When the Second World War came to an end here, the Red Army briefly set up its command post in the building after the last residents had been brought to Berlin. The headquarters then moved to Lanke Castle so that the sisters could take possession of the hostel again. In 1946 they took in displaced nuns and now offered outpatient nursing care for Ützdorf and neighboring towns, gave religious instruction and worked in maternal counseling. From 1949 the building served as a retirement home for old religious. The construction of the Berlin Wall on August 13, 1961 restricted the pastoral work in this house, so the St. Afra board organized religious education and leisure activities. After the fall of the
Berlin Wall , the house was thoroughly renovated in 1993, the rooms were given the usual sanitary standard, an elevator was installed and handicapped accessible stepless access was set up. It now serves as a guest hostel and is run by three nuns and three employees.

Residential houses and holiday homes determine the current local character. There was and does not exist a church in town. There is also no school or childcare facility here.

The Seechen to the west of the area , a rudiment of the Liepnitzsee, belongs to the Ützdorf and Prendener lake area. A small garden colony developed nearby at the beginning of the 20th century. A campsite that has existed since the 1970s west of Ützdorf directly on the banks of the Liepnitzsee was re-established above a forest path from the 1990s and now belongs to the settlement area as the campsite Am Liepnitzsee .

In terms of sport, Ützdorf has been the starting and finishing point since 1979 with the Liepnitzsee Run , which takes place every six months and is organized by the Bernauer Lauffreunde. It is a fun run with different route lengths and for different age groups.

Several hiking trails lead through Ützdorf, on which both the Hellmühle (marked green dot) and the Bogensee (marked blue line, blue-green diagonal) can be reached.

Wood art next to the refuge near Ützdorf

The Berlin city forests have about 500 meters south of Ützdorf on the slope of a terminal moraine leave in 2009 set up a protection and Partyhütte. The small, open wooden structure surprises the visitor with rustic wood art, here you can rest and use a fireplace.

On both sides of Ützdorf there is a landing stage for a small motor ferry, which in the summer season brings both day trippers and long-term campers to the island of Großer Werder in the Liepnitzsee.
