İyidere (formerly Aspet ) is a Turkish coastal city on the Black Sea and the capital of the district of the same name ( İlçe ) in the province of Rize . The city is located about 14 km west of the provincial capital Rize . According to the city seal, the place was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1953 .

The district İyidere bordered to the east by the county Derepazarı , in the southeast on the circle Kalkandere and in the west of the province of Trabzon . The İyidere river of the same name flows along the provincial border .

The circle was formed in 1990. Until then he was a Bucak in the central district (Merkez) Rize and had 13,529 inhabitants (= 8.29% of the then district population) in the last census before the change of area (1985), of which the Bucak capital ( Bucak merkezi ) 6,771 inhabitants.

At the end of 2018, the district consisted of the district town and seven villages ( Köy ) with an average of 558 residents. Kalecik (806) and Yaylacılar (697 pop .) Are the largest villages. The population density of the district is 357.8 (inhabitants per km²) almost four times higher than the provincial average.
