Łękuk Wielki ( German  Groß Lenkuk ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is a residential area in the village Podleśne (Knobbenort) within the rural community Kruklanki (Kruglanken) in the powiat Giżycki (district of Lötzen ).

Geographical location

Łękuk Wielki is located on the northeast bank of the Great Lenkuk Lake ( Jezioro Łękuk in Polish ) in the north-east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The former district town of Angerburg ( Polish : Węgorzewo ) is 22 kilometers to the northwest, and the current district metropolis of Giżycko (Lötzen) is 20 kilometers to the southwest.

history

The small village with its estate was founded in 1699. In subsequent years Lenkuck (after 1785), Lenkuk (before 1898) and with extra large Lenkuk (until 1945) called, it was in 1874 in the newly built office district cowls ( Polish Kuty ) incorporated, which the district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen of belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 Groß Lenkuk had 60 inhabitants.

On September 30, 1928, Groß Lenkuk lost its independence and was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Knobbenort (Polish Podleśne) with Frankenort (Jeleni Róg in Polish).

As a result of the war, Groß Lenkuk came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and has since been known as "Łękuk Wielki" in Polish. Today there is only one place to live in the village of Podleśne (Knobbenort) in the association of the rural community Kruklanki (Kruglanken) , which is now assigned to the powiat Giżycki (district of Lötzen ), before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Ecclesiastically, Groß Lenkuk was parish into the Protestant Kutten Church or the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd Angerburg until 1945 .

Today Łękuk Wielki belongs to the Catholic parish of Kruklanki and the Evangelical parish of Giżycko (Lötzen) with the subsidiary community of Pozezdrze (Possessern , 1938 to 1945 Großgarten) .
