Ōizumi ( Japanese 大 泉 町 , - machi ) is a town in Ōra County ( 邑 楽 郡 , -gun ), in Gunma Prefecture , in central Japan.

geography

The parish is located in the west of Gunma Prefecture. The clay flows in the south of the municipality .

The Ōizumi is surrounded by Ōta in the west and north, Ōra in the east, Chiyoda in the southeast and Kumagaya in Saitama Prefecture in the south on the other side of the river.

history

The community was founded on March 31, 1957 from the merger of the city Koizumi ( 小泉町 , -machi ) with the village Ōkawa ( 大川村 , - mura ).

traffic

The main highway in the municipality is National Road 354 to Takasaki or Hokota .

Ōizumi is connected to the rail network via the Tōbu Koizumi line to Tatebayashi . Stops in the community are Nishi-Koizumi, Koizumimachi, and Higashi-Koizumi.

Attractions

Sights in the community include the ruins of Koizumi Castle ( 小泉 城 跡 , Koizumi jōseki ) and the Ainohara ruins ( 間 之 原 遺跡 , Ainohara iseki ) from the Jōmon period (3500-3000 BC), as well as the Buddhist temple Ryūsen-ji ( 竜 泉 寺 ) and the Shinto Koizumi shrine ( 小泉 神社 , Koizumi-jinja ).

economy

In Ōizumi there are plants of the international groups Sanyo and Fuji Heavy Industries , but also of the printing company Toppan Printing and the frozen food company Ajinomoto Reitō Shokuhin.

In Ōizumi are the primary schools ( 大 泉 町 立 X 小学校 , Ōizumi-chōritsu X shōgakkō ) north ( , kita ), south ( , minami ), west ( 西 , nishi ) and east ( , higashi ), as well as the middle schools ( 大 泉 町 立 X 中 学校 , Ōizumi-chōritsu X chūgakkō ) North, South and West.

At higher educational institutions, the Nishi-Ōra-high school ( 群 馬 県 立 西 邑 楽 高等学校 , Gunma-kenritsu Nishi-Ōra kōtō gakkō ), the Ōizumi-high school ( 群 馬 県 立 大 泉 高等学校 , Gunma-kenritsu Ōizumi-kenritsu Ōizumi-kenritsu Ōizumi-kenritsu ) ( 大 泉 保育 福祉 専 門 学校 , Ōizumi hoiku fukushi semmon gakkō ) specializing in child care or welfare work in general.

Town twinning

Ōizumi has been a sister city of the Brazilian Guaratinguetá since October 1992 .
