Štěrbina (German Sterbina ) is a district of the municipality Zabrušany in Okres Teplice , Czech Republic . It is located one kilometer northeast of Zabrušany in the North Bohemian Basin .

Štěrbina is located on the southern slope of Jalovčiny ( juniper mountains ). The Ve chvojkách ( Juniper Mountain ; 383 m) rises to the northeast . In the West is the valley of the Bouřlivec ( giant Bach ), the brook below the mouth of the reservoir in Klášterský Všechlapy is dammed.

Neighboring towns are Újezdeček and Řetenice in the north, Nová Ves in the north-east, Straky in the east, Tuchlov, Křemýž and Pňovičky in the south-east, Hostomice and Chotějovice in the south, Všechlapy in the south-west, Duchcov , Křínec and Lahošť in the west as well as Jenwíkov and Hudcřich in the north .

Archaeological finds prove an early settlement of the area; A Bronze Age burial ground was found on the southern slope of the Ve chvojkách hill .

The first written mention of the village of Sterbina , which belonged to the Teplitz rule , was made in 1542 in a list of goods by Johann and Bernhard von Waldstein . At that time Sterbina consisted of six farms. In the 17th century the village was added to the Dux rule . In 1680 Johann Friedrich von Waldstein raised the lordships of Dux and Oberleutensdorf to a family affide . In the 18th century the village consisted of eight farmers and one shepherd. During the Seven Years' War , the Battle of Hundorf and Kradrob took place north in 1762 .

In 1831 Sterbina / Skrbina consisted of 10 houses with 41 German-speaking residents. The parish was Sobrusan . Until the middle of the 19th century, Sterbina remained subordinate to the Fideikommissherrschaft Dux.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Sterbine / Skrběna 1850 a district of the municipality Wschechlab in Leitmeritzer county and judicial district Teplice. From 1868 the village belonged to the Teplitz district and in 1869 was incorporated into Sobrusan together with Wschechlab. Štěrbina has been used as a Czech place name since the end of the 19th century . As a result of the Munich Agreement , Sterbina was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Dux district until 1945 . After the end of the Second World War, the place came back to Czechoslovakia and the German-Bohemian population was expelled. After the Okres Duchcov was abolished, Štěrbina was assigned to the Okres Teplice in 1961. In 1991 Štěrbina had 23 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, 17 people lived in the village's seven houses. In total, the place consists of nine houses.

Štěrbina has had a coat of arms since 1997.

  • Ve chvojkách ( Wachholderberg ) with a television tower and a memorial to the peasant liberator Hans Kudlich . The four-meter-high sandstone obelisk was unveiled in 1888 and was layered with 150 stones bearing the names of the villages in the judicial districts of Teplitz, Dux and Bilin.
