(10557) Rowland is an asteroid of the main inner belt that was discovered on September 15, 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809).

The celestial body was named on March 20, 2000 after the American physicist Henry Augustus Rowland (1848-1901), who mainly worked in the field of electromagnetism and was known for the concave diffraction gratings he produced .
