(250840) Motörhead is an asteroid of the main outer belt discovered by the French computer scientist and amateur astronomer Jean-Claude Merlin on October 30, 2005 at the fully automatic Ritchey-Chrétien 81 cm telescope of the Tenagra II Observatory in Nogales , Arizona ( IAU code 926 ) has been discovered. The telescope was able to head for Merlin from France when it was discovered.

The asteroid belongs to the Hygiea family, a rather older group of asteroids, as is believed, the largest member of which is the asteroid (10) Hygiea .

(250840) Motörhead was named on March 16, 2014 after the British musical group Motörhead . An asteroid was named after Motörhead's singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister on November 14, 2016: (243002) Lemmy .
